You can visit http://goonj.org/?page_id=2245 for lending helping hand .This again is one of the NGO’s carrying materials etc. for the people of Uttarakhand.

2. You can volunteer to help on personal front, if you have a kind of skill that is required. For example, doctors can volunteer to give their services , psychiatrists can volunteer to counsel grief stricken people , people having certain type of skills required for rescue operations can volunteer for rescue operations etc.

3. You can organise something to raise money for flood victims .You can arrange some fair or some show to showcase your special talents ,the proceeds of which can be donated to concerned authorities.

4. You can call any helpline numbers and find out what kind of help is actually required.

5. Be watching latest news on television, newspapers etc to find out what is actually required.

6. You can donate money through authorised channels. Two of the main channels are:

Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (https://pmnrf.gov.in/)
Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in Uttrakhand (http://www.cm.uk.gov.in/pages/display/1176-online-donation)

You can do online contribution through these channels

Don’t:

1. Don’t send clothes , things etc. that are in bad shape. You need to remember that people over there are in distress and are not beggars. So, while donating donate generously .

2. Don’t give things to people who are coming to homes for collecting. If you want to donate, donate to genuine organisations and through proper channels. Find out any NGOs etc. in your area who are participating in relief work and carrying things for victims.

You can add anything that comes to your mind in addition to what has been written to help people in Uttarakhand.

What has happened in Uttarakhand in India, is Nature’s way of telling us that She deserves attention.

Nature is crying for the DUE LEGITIMATE ATTENTION.

We need to understand that when we take so much from Nature, we should learn to give her back. With rights come responsibilities. One way traffic doesn’t workout well. It creates imbalance. This imbalance is projected in many ways.

Nature has her own way of telling us and reminding us of this imbalance. Time and again nature has warned us through tsunamis, cyclones, floods etc.

She has been pleading us, first through softer and then through harder ways –
PLEASE,DON’T DISTURB ME
PLEASE, DON’T DISTURB ME

Her constant pleads are falling on deaf ears. We are not listening to what Nature has to say.

What happens when one is deprived of one’s due rights?

First dissatisfaction is created. Then, come the silent protests. When the silent protests go unnoticed, then come the violent protests.
So, what are we all waiting for ???
Do we want more violent protests from Nature to listen to what She has to say?

Let us all carry out our part of responsibility towards Nature. Let us begin giving back to Nature her share. Don’t see if somebody else is doing or not. Don’t wait for somebody else to start. Start it with yourself .Concentrate on what you should be doing and not what others should be doing. Too much of talk is there and little of action. Let us reverse this pattern with more of action and less of talking.

MAKE A CONSCIOUS EFFORT TO GIVE BACK TO NATURE HER DUE AND LEGITIMATE SHARE.
